Brandon Shen

I build systems that work across the full stack, from mechanical design and electrical integration to software and computer vision.

I am currently a research intern at Stanford University’s SHAPE Lab, developing hardware for blind and low-vision users.

Previously, I designed and built the modular motorized test track at Verdant Robotics. I have also contributed to open source projects including Mattermost and WPILib, and my research on barren plateau mitigation for quantum neural networks appears in preprint and peer-reviewed publications.

Outside of engineering, I am a former competitive wushu athlete and pianist, and currently a hobbyist motorsport photographer. Recent work includes Cold Start 2026 in San Francisco and the IndyCar Mission Food Grand Prix of Monterey at Laguna Seca.
